Duties: Instruct English 067 in the Career and Academic Preparation program at the Cowichan Campus. Provide individual and group instruction; prepare course materials; provide student support and tutorial support; complete student evaluation, grading and record keeping; liaise with student support services; participate as an active member of the instructional team; participate in staff meetings. Follow the articulated outcomes as listed in the current provincial ABE Articulaton Handbook.
 
  Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success through ongoing professional training, subject currency, and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and department committees; meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

 
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution. Significant recent university course work in subject area is required to teach at the 067 level. Proven skills, experience, and sensitivity in working with disadvantaged adult learners; ability to use a wide range of teaching strategies to accommodate the needs of different learners; skills in development of course materials; skill in providing individualized instruction in a group setting; demonstrated interpersonal skills working with students; demonstrated interpersonal skills working with instructors, student support services, staff and administration as a team member; organizational skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Teacher Training certification.
