Powell River Campus
Maintain all aspects of the Toolroom for the Automotive Program including receiving, maintaining and issuing tools, equipment and supplies. Repair or arrange for repair of tools, equipment and diagnostic systems. Under the direction of the instructor, supervise repairs performed by students. Liaise with customers to schedule vehicles for repairs; monitor repair process. Determine requirements and ensure availability of parts; meet with suppliers and manufactures' representatives. Maintain and develop systems to account for tools and equipment. Monitor budgets and submit daily revenues. Implement and maintain proper safety standards including demonstrating and ensuring students follow safe use of tools and equipment.|
Automotive Interprovincial Certification. Five to seven years recent, directly related experience as a journeyperson Automotive Technician. Working knowledge of safety standards, including WorkSafeBC Regulations and HRAI Regulations. Demonstrated ability to work in and maintain a toolroom. Experience in maintaining tools, equipment and supplies. Familiarity with service manuals. Demonstrate participation in trade upgrading courses; some bookkeeping/organization skills. Supervisory experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated computer literacy.|
Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).
Valid OFA Level 2 Certificate required (or obtain as per CUPE Letter of Agreement #3).
Budget management courses.|
