Workload: Up to 28 hours per week of direct instruction. Hours and days of the week may vary; additional hours to be submitted on timesheets. Applications may also be considered for auxiliary work.

Duties: Courses are within classroom, lab, and/or practice settings. Prepare and deliver classes and practice experiences; design and grade student assignments and tests; facilitate students integration of theory and practice for Aboriginal learners; and evaluate student progress in courses. Use creative strategies in the preparation and delivery of classroom and lab learning activities; support student learning in a variety of classroom and practice settings; use initiative in providing documentation and follow-up with regard to student concerns and solutions; bring facilitation skills to conflict resolution; collaborate with colleagues and programs locally as they relate to the HCA program; and participate in faculty/program meetings.   Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success through ongoing professional training, subject currency, and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and department committees; meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse with current CRNBC membership in good standing. Adult education experience with demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Proven ability to foster learning with a diverse group of learners. Must be flexible and able to work independently and collaboratively with practice setting personnel, and as a member of the Health and Human Services team.
Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an appropriately accredited institution. Credential in adult education. Courses in adult education, previous teaching in a formal setting or in a post-secondary setting.
