Reporting to the Advancement Manager, Annual Campaign and Alumni Relations, assist with the overall operation of the Annual Fund, the annual giving program at Vancouver Island University. Support the direct mail program, student giving campaign and the VIU Alumni Association.
Assist the annual solicitations for the university's direct mail and email fundraising programs, including all components of each mailing (including design, composition and segmentation) and overseeing data management, list pulls and data manipulation and clean up. Set clear and measurable goals for the VIU Annual Fund. Develop strategies for giving and participation campaigns, including mail, phone, email and social media solicitations. Recruit volunteers to support the Annual Fund. Assist in the creation and implementation of a comprehensive student giving campaign.
Maintain annual giving and alumni website and social media presence and create advancement and alumni e-newsletters on a regular basis. Maintain alumni database through Raiser's Edge and Student Records. Seek out and contact alumni who have lost contact with VIU. Conduct regular data sweeps to ensure accuracy of records. Provide reports, data lists and alumni benefits cards. Attend VIU Alumni Association meetings. Represent VIU alumni at community events. Assist Advancement and Alumni Office in planning meetings, accept special assignments, assist colleagues and provide support for all ongoing programs and operations.
Undergraduate degree in a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution. Three to five years of experience in annual fund work or experience in marketing, sales or public relations. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience in managing print and electronic communication projects.
Ability to work with students, as well as volunteers. Strong computer skills and knowledge of database research and maintenance.
Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).
Graduate of VIU. Proven project management skills; creative, flexible, and possess a positive approach when working with a variety of people; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work efficiently under deadline pressure; knowledge of social networking sites.
