  The Natural Resources Extension Program (NREP) is one of Canada's leading providers of applied, community-based natural resources professional development training. Since 1989, the NREP has developed and delivered fisheries, environmental, and wildlife training to over 17,000 industry stakeholders in communities throughout North America.
Duties: Provide logistical support to on-site course deliveries and coordinate day-to-day equipment and student needs. Enter final grades; enter course details into database; coordinate student registration and facilities; assist with instructional appointments and invoicing; maintain a listserv and website content.

Coordinate transport/shipping of course materials and/or dangerous goods; inform staff and contractors of all transport and WHMIS protocols.

Coordinate technical equipment, lab supplies, field equipment, fish collections and instrumentation. Acquire and maintain Scientific Collection Permits, federal and provincial research licensing, and other regulatory approval documentation.

Support the program's animal care requirements by submitting protocol documents, assisting with development of standard operating procedures and ensuring contractors are informed of standards.

Edit, collate and assist with the design of course manuals.
Required Qualifications: Two-year Natural Resource or environmentally-related diploma from an appropriately accredited institution. Electrofishing certification, transportation of dangerous goods, experimental fish (CCAC certification, and small vessel operator card. Minimum five years related experience. Demonstrated experience working in a cost-recovery environment. Demonstrated experience maintaining, operating, and calibrating technical scientific equipment. MS Office proficiency. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must possess a valid Class 4 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).

Valid OFA Level 1 Certificate required (or obtain as per CUPE Letter of Agreement #3).
