Duties: Reporting to the Manager, Contracts and Group Programs and the Intercultural Program Coordinator, provide support for group programs and international student activities.

Drive groups and participants on student activities to and from planned events; assist with the development, implementation and leading of activities; book various forms of transportation including charters, ferries and vehicle rentals; assist with booking various planned activities including school visits, community locations and a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational facilities; provide support and interact with a wide range of cultural groups; create informative posters for distribution to group programs and student activities; actively participate in and lead various student activities; pre-trip inspections of vehicles and activity set-up; and organize and conduct campus and community tours for clients.
Required Qualifications: Grade 12 plus additional coursework equivalent to 6 - 30 college credits in Liberal Studies, Tourism, Global Studies or other related course from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum two years experience leading student and/or tourist activities including: canoeing, kayaking, swimming, bowling, hiking etc; person responsible for first aid/safety for students/tourists; experience in risk management. Two to three years driving experience (required for driving students and/or tourists). Knowledge of local tourism opportunities, festivals, events, geographical areas, local transportation options, history of parks and natural science. Knowledge of current VIU policies and procedures. Leadership experience in a variety of recreational activities for international students in cross cultural settings and dealing with international clients.
Must possess a valid Class 4 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).

Valid OFA Level 1 Certificate required (or obtain as per CUPE Letter of Agreement #3).

Preferred Qualifications: Profiency in a language other than English.
