Location: Powell River Campus
Duties: Under the direction of the Chef Instructor, assist with the overall operation of the dining room, cafeteria and banquet room. Assist in the practical instruction and supervision of students in all aspects of dining room, cafeteria, special events and cash register duties. Perform various other duties as assigned by Chef Instructor including: stewarding, purchasing, receiving; being available for special events; setting up instructional demos; inventory; food costing; quality control; stocking all areas of dining room, cafeteria and banquet room. Setting up and cleaning of dining room, cafeteria, and banquet room; handling of china, cutlery, glassware; placing orders with suppliers, receiving quotes and cost out items; and serve customers. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment in dining room, cafeteria, kitchen and banquet room.
Required Qualifications: Grade 12 diploma and one-year hospitality certificate from an appropriately accredited institution. Three to five years directly related dining room and supervisory experience. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Sensitivity to the needs of students. Intermediate level word processing skills. Intermediate level MS Office skills. FoodSafe certificate Level 1 and 2, Serving it Right. Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
Valid OFA Level 1 Certificate required (or obtain as per CUPE Letter of Agreement #3).
