Duties: The Online Course Support Assistant will assist in the conversion of our Learning Management System from Moodle to Desire2Learn and will provide basic support to faculty with respect to courses housed within Desire2Learn.

Migrate, convert and reformat courses from Moodle to Desire2Learn (D2L) which involves copying, organizing, renaming and rebuilding courses using computer skills in learning management software. Support faculty by providing guidance and functionality assistance in learning Desire2Learn and working in their new course environment. Demonstrate program and course features to faculty when releasing the converted course.

Follow checklists and quality control measures to ensure that courses are converted, rebuilt, and released to instructors accurately. Assist with routine processes for ensuring D2L courses are ready to be activated and accessible to students for learning.

Work closely with three Learning Technologies Support Assistant to ensure that courses are completed within tight deadlines and according to needs and priorities. Communicate daily with other Online Course Support Assistants to prioritize work and assign duties. Keep accurate records of completed work using Microsoft Excel.

Produce resource materials (handouts, videos) of how to undertake basic operations and functions within the learning management system for faculty to use. Answer basic student or faculty email inquiries about D2L such as finding a course, logging in and navigating around learning management system environment. Keep files associated with courses organized using standard naming conventions.
Required Qualifications: High School diploma plus 6 to 30 credits in courses such as Digital Media, Introduction to EManagement, MS Office training, or the Adobe Suite. Up to one year relevant experience that may include work in a Help Desk or Teaching and Learning Centre. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Excellent data entry skills and comfort with browsers. Very good file management ability and comfort working with many files, file extensions and file folders. Moderate to high level of comfort with Microsoft Excel, including copying and pasting and working with multiple spreadsheets.

Ability to learn new software programs quickly and be comfortable working within different software.
Ability to take direction well and undertake tasks. Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to complete assigned tasks independently and efficiently within prescribed deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
