Reporting to the Homestay/Peerstay Manager, provide support to international students at VIU and The High School at VIU and their host families. Duties include word processing, data entry, reception, filing, responding to enquiries from host families, agents and international students on campus, by phone and email; managing and ordering print materials; preparing information packages for hosts and students, including orientations, host family applications and new student/family letters of introduction. Support the Homestay Assistant to process purchase orders, and cheque requisitions for students, groups and hosts.|
Grade 12 diploma plus additional coursework equivalent of 6 - 30 credits, from an appropriately accredited institution. One to three years recent, relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Intermediate level word processing and MS Office proficiency. Ability to complete tasks independently within team intrdependencies. Ability to concentrate in a busy environment and switch detailed tasks quickly. Ability to communicate fluently in spoken and written English. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to tactfully and accurately process sensitive, confidential information.|
One-year certificate in Applied Business Technology, or equivalent, from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience in a post-secondary institution. Experience with an international clientele. Basic bookkeeping skills.|
