Duties: Teach GEOL 206: Geological Field Methods and Mapping. GEOL 206 is a field intensive that will be run from April 26, 2013 to May 5, 2013 on Quadra Island (a relatively remote location) and will require supervision of students in various types of terrain. Instruction will include all facets of geological mapping and field methods, as well as issues related to field safety. Course is team taught over nine days along with two other instructors and includes approximately 15 students.
  Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications: Master of Science degree in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Willingness and ability to work with students in the field and as a team. Satisfactory completion of St John Ambulance Level 1 First Aid or similar.
Must possess a valid Class 4 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Earth Science or equivalent, with experience in geological mapping.
