Duties: Technical Support: Train students on workshop equipment and safety protocols. Monitor students during assigned block for students to work on projects, cut samples, etc. Hang student work in Art and Design building, various campus locations, and off campus grad shows.

Troubleshoot and provide technical support for students installing required software on their own laptops (MAC and PCs). Troubleshoot and provide technical support. Monitor and work with IT for annual and semi-annual software upgrades and installation for office computers and laptops.

Monitor and work with Communications department to: update department website, photograph student work for archives and for use on website and with print media; design and produce and/or coordinate materials for program promotion. Collect, catalogue, and store student work for CIDA review (once the initial accreditation review is complete, a review is done every 4-6 years; however, this is an ongoing activity).

Organizational Support: Assist in planning and organizing student field trips (local, Mainland, outside of province and country). Monitor and organize student librarians and materials and samples coming in and going out of the Resource room. Coordinate access cards. Assist with and coordinate ordering, shipping, and receiving of materials and supplies. Attend weekly Interior Design faculty meetings.

Curatorial Support: Assist with variety of design shows and events such as Progressions, Information Sessions, Grad Shows, and Career Fairs.

  Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities, including, student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

 
Required Qualifications: Two years of training in a related trades area (e.g, carpentry, finishing carpentry, cabinet making) from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum two years' workshop experience. Ability to demonstrate procedures and techniques to adult learners. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Excellent organization skills. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of both MAC and PC platforms. Ability to work within team context while independently completing required tasks.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related area from an appropriately accredited institution. Experience in an educational setting. Presentation experience. Occupational First Aid Level 1 (or be willing to obtain). Experience with detailed file management and archiving principles.
