  The Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations is dedicated to supporting the mission of Vancouver Island University by fostering relationships that result in continuing goodwill and financial support from alumni, parents, friends and organizations.
 
Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Major Gifts and Legacies, develop donor stewardship materials for internal and external audiences and coordinate all donor stewardship activities for the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Advancement and Alumni Relations Office and VIU Foundation.

Coordinate proper, timely and personal acknowledgment of gifts; assist to update donor walls, prepare regular email and/or draft written communications to donors. Assist to prepare donor stewardship packages and materials that clearly outline how donor's gift is being used in support of VIU students and the positive impact of gifts. Support managers to prepare reports to donors on non-financial donor-interest information, updates regarding the disbursement of gifts and respond to donor queries and requests with a focus on accountability, customer service and cultivating the relationship.

Assist to plan and coordinate donor recognition events, such as galas, luncheons, and receptions to bring together donors and student recipients. Provide support to committees as required.
 
Required Qualifications: One-year post-secondary program (e.g., Applied Business Technology, business, communications, media relations, or related field) from an appropriately accredited institution. One to three years experience, including event assistance. High level of organization skills, ability to switch tasks quickly and prioritize. A willingness to take initiative. Excellent written and oral English language skills. Web content management skills. Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access).
 
Preferred Qualifications: Advancement and Alumni Office experience. Not-for-profit or public sector experience. Volunteer relations experience. Relational database experience (e.g., Raiser's Edge).

Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record (as specified in Vancouver Island University policy and procedures).
