Duties: Work as part of the professional development and training team. In consultation with Manager assist with budget preparation. Monitor, analyze and consult for cost centres relating to a broad range of Professional Development and Training (PD & T) programs including: prepare budget information, budget planning, development, review, reconciliation and analysis as required. Assist with development of the annual budget. Provide support and advice to program coordinators in developing, preparing and managing program budgets, manage budget transactions and transfers. Set up cost centres, budgets and cash flows, prepare and submit all financial documentation relating to contracts, prepare and process year-end financial requirements and other related budget and financial duties.

Assist with selection of facilitators/instructors to fulfill contracts, compile instructor evaluations, process appointments, create budgets for contracts and special projects to include cash flow, development, monitoring, and reconciliation, assist with proposal writing.
Process financial and student information confidentially. Support Professional Development and Training staff as required.
 
Required Qualifications: Two-year diploma in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. 5-7 years directly related experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Proficiency in budget development, tracking and reconciliation. Senior-level MS Office skills. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and communicate sensitively with vulnerable students. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a cost recovery environment.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of VIU programs and systems (e.g., PD&T, CESB, SB, Student Record System, Financial Record System). Knowledge of client case management and familiarity with Employment Insurance programs and services as well as other Government programs. Experience in proposal writing.
