HAIR 100T Hygiene, Sanitation, and Disinfection Practices
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to hygiene, sanitation, and disinfection practices within the salon industry. Topics include salon ecology, microbiology, principles of infection control, and basic first aid. Students will perform general trade practices that include sanitizing and disinfecting tools and equipment and maintaining a safe and hygienic salon environment. HAIR 101T Use and Maintenance of Tools and Equipment
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to use and maintenance of tools and equipment associated with the salon industry. Topics include the use and maintenance of single-use tools, cutting tools, styling tools, colouring tools, perm/relaxing tools, client capes, sanitizing and disinfecting equipment, major equipment, and office equipment. HAIR 102T Client Services
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to client services. Topics include personal and professional development, redefining character, communicating with confidence, planning for success, building a clientele, and creating an exceptional guest experience. Using appropriate client communication skills, students will perform design decisions based on the guiding principles of design composition and adaptability. HAIR 102T was formerly called HAIR 176T, HAIR 186T, HAIR 196T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

HAIR 103T Hair and Scalp Care
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to hair theory, hair care and evaluation, draping, shampooing and scalp massage. Topics include hair formation; evaluation; hair loss and common hair and scalp conditions; and infection control and safety. Students will perform evaluation, draping, shampooing and conditioning services, and scalp massage services on live clients. HAIR 104T Hair Cutting
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to hair cutting and sculpture. Topics include sculpture transformation and design and essential sculpting techniques. Students will perform hair sculpture on a variety of hair textures and types on mannequins and live models before advancing towards combination forms, men's sculpting theory, and cutting facial and nape hair. HAIR 104T was formerly called HAIR 141T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

HAIR 105T Hair Styling
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to the art and design of hair styling. Topics include the art of hair design; the use and handling of professional tools; basic and advanced wet and thermal hair design techniques; and long hair design. Students will regularly perform hairstyling services on both mannequins and live models. HAIR 105T was formerly called HAIR 146T; HAIR 147T; HAIR 148T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

HAIR 106T Chemical Waving and Relaxing of Hair
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to chemical waving and relaxing of hair. Topics include perming and texture transformations; design decisions; basic perming techniques; perm patterns such as rectangle pattern, bricklay pattern, and contour pattern; and basic relaxing theory including relaxing principles, results, and guidelines. HAIR 106T was formerly called Hair 156T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

HAIR 107T Hair Colouring
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to hair colouring. Topics include the possibilities of colour, the Law of Colour, and basic colour design which includes essential colour design formulation and techniques. Students progress towards advanced colour design including the procedures and performance of colour correction. HAIR 107T was formerly called HAIR 166T; credit will not be granted for both courses.

HAIR 108T Specialized Services

HAIR 109T Business Management
A study of theoretical and practical knowledge related to business management within the salon industry. Topics include recognizing changes in the industry and the impact on business practices; employing current practices and techniques to market products and services. Student will perform salon operations, complete financial transactions, maintain products inventory, and market products and services. HAIR 110T Experiential Learning: Salon Module
This course provides students with an opportunity to enhance their skills and build their confidence in a teaching salon while under the supervision of instructional faculty. Students will be inspired by guest artists through a series of workshops, complete a two-week industry placement, and carry out a variety of receptionist duties related to the salon's daily operation.
Prerequisite: Admission into the Hairstylist Foundation Certificate Program.
HAIR 125T Integrated Salon Experience
Students will apply their knowledge and skills in a recognized professional salon.

HAIR 137T Theory II
A continuation of Hair 136T. Topics include a written assessment of hair colouring set 3, hair colouring set 4, people skills, chemical hair relaxing. Includes a combined final exam for Level Two from the above assessments.

HAIR 138T Theory III
Topics include a written assessment of wigs and hair additions, study of the nails, study of the skin, and electricity. Includes a final exam composed of questions from all three levels.

A continuation of HAIR 141T with additional topics focusing on combination cuts, men's cutting, finishing, and texturizing techniques.
