The Dominion-Provincial Youth Training Centre: WWII

1942 automotive class for women

During WWII, the Dominion-Provincial Youth Training Centre operated as an army trade school. Students learned to repair army vehicles and the school worked in collaboration with Camp Nanaimo to address the training camp's needs. Jack Macready offered a mechanics course for women and is seen instructing the class in the 1942 photograph.
