Topic on Communication

This area focusses on the need for effective internal employee communications - which convey a clear and timely description of "what's going on." A healthy university has ongoing communication on institutional goals, strategies, and plans. What would you like to see implemented to improve overall communication from the institution?

Topic on Leadership

Employees are looking for leaders who instill trust, foster empowerment, accountability and transparency, and who demonstrate consistency, a commitment to institutional values and supportive leadership. How could leadership be improved at any level within the University? How can leadership be encouraged from all employees?

Topic on Recognition

Recognition promotes an experience where employees know their contributions are making a difference to the organization. How can VIU make recognition meaningful to you? What suggestions do you have to improve recognition of employees?

Topic on Teamwork/Cooperation

A key factor in employee engagement and satisfaction is the quality of working relationships within a department and across the institution. When employees work in teams and have the trust and cooperation of their team members, they outperform individuals and teams who lack good relationships. How can we improve our teamwork/cooperation at VIU?

Topic on Health and Well-being

Health and Well-being incorporates employee health and wellness programs and services, supporting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness of all employees. What are some ways we can support all employees in experiencing great Health and Well-being at VIU?

Topic on Workplace Culture

Workplace culture includes how individual employees experience and perceive the University. What ways would you like to see VIU actively supporting a positive workplace culture that reflects the statement above?
