Duties: We are seeking an energetic, practice based professional to assume full time or half time responsibilities as limited term faculty in the Child and Youth Care program. Duties and responsibilities include: developing, preparing and delivering courses that may span first through fourth year studies; designing and evaluating student assignments and other performance measures; facilitating student integration of theory into practice through classroom, lab and field placement instruction; attendance at faculty meetings and participation in committee work within the program and the Faculty of Health and Human Services; participate in other program initiatives and activities such as advising, recruitment, admissions, program and curriculum development and facilitative duties within the program area as part of a collaborative faculty service approach.

This position may require travel to a variety of practice settings on Vancouver Island.
  Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications: PhD (completed or in progress) in related field or Masters' Degree in Child and Youth Care (or related field), and seven years experience in Child and Youth Care working with children, youth, and/or their families in community based settings. Three to five years recent teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal ways of knowing, respect for cultural teachings, and a demonstrated understanding of Child and Youth Care orientation to practice. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer competence.
Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications: Proven administrative and team leadership skills; expertise in instruction at the post-secondary level; proven research skills.
