Duties: The Department of Recreation and Tourism is seeking applicants who are qualified to teach the following course in the Fall 2017 term. Candidates require conceptual knowledge and direct industry experience relevant to this course.

Accounting for Non-Financial Managers (ACCT 101)
An overview of the accounting cycle for a service and a merchandising entity. Additional topics include accounting for cash and payroll accounting. Accounting software will be used to prepare financial information.

  Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications: A Doctoral degree (or ABD) in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; experience in teaching undergraduate courses; relevant applied professional experience in a recreation or tourism setting with specific experience relevant to the course content; knowledge of place-based learning and indigenous ways of knowing.

NOTE: Candidates who hold a Masters degree and have industry experience may be considered.

A strong focus on teaching and student learning, demonstrated competency working effectively in a team-oriented environment and responsive to diverse learning styles, cultural and academic backgrounds. Ability to bring to the classroom environment direct industry experience of leadership competencies within recreation and tourism management to support student learning.
