Location: Powell River Campus
Duties: Teach one section of Sociology 112, Canadian Society in the Contemporary World. This course is one of two Introduction to Sociology courses. The calendar description is as follows: An introduction to Sociology through the study of Canadian society and its global context. In addition to theoretical perspectives, social class and inequality, topics may include education, family, religion, science and technology, environment, globalization, work, economy, politics, health and medicine, social movements and social change.

The position involves delivering classes through videoconferencing to students in Powell River and in Nanaimo, holding office hours, preparing and marking assignments, and/or exams.
  Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.
Required Qualifications: PhD in Sociology from an appropriately accredited institution with recent teaching experience in sociology and strong teaching evaluations. Demonstrated competency in technology related to the position.
