Location: Nanaimo Campus
Duties: Assist instructors with the delivery of courses, labs, and field trips. Organize and catalogue extensive mineral, rock and fossil collection. Care and maintain petrographic microscopes, rock saw and other classroom/lab/field equipment. Maintain teaching and lab materials, and be involved with purchasing and ordering. Assist with department website, and drive bus for student field trips as needed.
  Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities, including, student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

Required Qualifications: BSc in Geoscience, Geology or other related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Willingness and ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative in scheduling and completing tasks, communicate with colleagues, and interact with students in the lab and field. A valid Class 4 BC Driver's Licence and a confirmed satisfactory driving record. Completion of Occupational First Aid Level 1 (or equivalent certification).
Preferred Qualifications: MSc in Geoscience or Geology from an appropriately accredited institution. Previous experience with research, technical equipment, and lab work an asset.
