Professional Log Truck Driver Mentors [EXTENDED]

Individuals who meet the qualifications and criteria will be interviewed for selection. Successful candidates will be required to attend Mentor Training (dates, locations and times to be determined).
Mentors will be contracted on an as needed basis.
Start/End: February 28, 2018 up to June 30, 2018 -

Duties: Duties will include providing one-on-one mentoring to log truck drivers at their work sites throughout BC. Ensure drivers have the ability to operate logging truck configurations in a range of circumstances. By re-enforcing training and standards set out by the BCFSC, develop drivers that are prepared to be assessed to ensure they can demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attributes required by the log hauling profession as set out in the Professional Log Truck Operator Competency Program.
Ensure program standards are maintained. Responsible for minor repairs and adjustments to training vehicles. Travel to contract sites will be required.
Required Qualifications: Recent experience as a log truck operator. Minimum of five years recent directly related industry experience. Successfully meet the outcomes of the Professional Log Truck Operator Competency Assessment within 30 days of being hired. Hold and maintain a Class 1 Driver's License, Air Brake Endorsement and have confirmed satisfactory driving record. Transportation Endorsement on First Aid ticket, depending on location. Computer and organizational skills.

Demonstrated leadership in safety. Familiarity with and demonstrated skills in mentoring adults. Excellent communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. High level of energy and enthusiasm is essential. Successful candidates will be responsive to diverse cultural and academic backgrounds and learning styles.
Preferred Qualifications: 10 years' experience as a log truck operator, Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent. Supervisory experience. Mechanical background i.e. ability to identify any potential repairs that could render the vehicle unsafe to operate.
