  The History Department at Vancouver Island University offers a Bachelor of Arts degree with the option of a Major or Minor in a variety of areas of study that reflect the diversity and wide-ranging expertise of our faculty, with particular focus on the history of: Canada, Europe, the United States, and Popular Culture. Duties: The Department of History at Vancouver Island University invites applications for a limited term, part-time position to teach Canadian Women's history, pre- and post-1920, and the history of North American Popular Culture, pre- and post-1945.
 
  Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

 
Required Qualifications: A Doctoral degree in North American Women's history and/or Popular Culture from an appropriately accredited institution and recent and relevant undergraduate teaching experience.

A strong focus on teaching and student learning, demonstrated competency working effectively in a team-oriented environment, and responsiveness to diverse learning styles, cultural and academic backgrounds. Demonstrated proficiency with technology relevant to the position.
