Whether you wish to return to the same program or a different program after your year on Academic Pause, you must submit a new application to VIU. You can submit an application for admission while you are serving your suspension and should do so by the application deadline.
Please refer to your letter from the Registrar’s Office for specific details.
If you plan to return to the same program that you were in prior to Academic Pause, you must reapply and will be placed on Academic Concern for your first year of return. If your program is a limited entry program, you will be subject to the competitive admission process for readmission.
VIU supports students and wants you to succeed. We recommend these services:
- Academic Advising: Students who have been put on Academic Pause are welcome to meet with an Academic Advisor at any point in the year or more away from academic studies at VIU. There are ways to continue your studies during the Academic Pause at VIU. If returning to VIU for the same or different program, you must reapply to return to VIU. An Academic Advisor can discuss your next steps and options with you. Please email Advising@viu.ca or book an appointment.
