Prospective students can apply directly from high school, as a transfer student from another post secondary school or as a mature student. We also welcome international students.

The Forestry Department accepts a limited number of students each year—students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Prospective students are also encouraged to contact the Forestry Department Chair to ensure that the application process is completed efficiently.

Admission Requirements

Canadian citizen or a permanent resident

  • High school diploma with
    C in English 12
    C in Principles of Math 11 or Pre-Calculus 11; or C+ in Foundations or Applications in Math 11, or equivalent
    C+ in any science 11

    Equivalency for Math 11 and a Science 11

VIU provides extensive support services for international students including information on attending VIU and living in Canada. Go to the International Education website for more information.

If you are lacking the admission requirements or have questions about the program - we encourage you to contact us. We can answer your questions and help you with your application. With written permission, students may be allowed to register in some first year Forestry courses while upgrading.
