Location: Nanaimo Campus
Duties: Food preparation, production, and serving for cafeteria and catering operations, as per recipes, cooking procedures, production levels, and standards of quality determined by management. May include the preparation of sandwiches, salads, hot and cold entrees, baked goods, and other menu items. Make recommendations for product types and production levels to enhance sales in both cafeterias and catering. Clean work areas and equipment. Stock and merchandise products and goods as required. Receive and count inventory items. Open and close work areas. Provide excellent service to all cafeteria and catering customers. Communicate customer feedback to management. May train new employees.
Required Qualifications: One-year Culinary Arts Certificate program, or equivalent, from an appropriately accredited institution, and minimum one year line cooking experience in an institutional setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. FoodSafe certificate. Experience with a wide variety of cooking equipment. Excellent service, communication, and organizational skills. Proven ability to meet deadlines and production quotas. Proven ability to work well under pressure. Ability to work without direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications: Culinary Arts Certificate and Canadian Cooking Red Seal.
