Casual Staff Employment

General Information on Casual Staff

Casual staff are hired as per CUPE 1858 Article 13.01. Casual employees accrue seniority hours and are eligible to contribute to the pension plan. Assignments are based on qualifications and availability.

Casual employees must complete WHMIS, a Health and Safety Orientation and a Human Rights information session after being hired.

The CUPE Collective Agreement is available online.

Interviews only take place if additional casuals are required. If you apply, and do not hear back within three months, and are still interested, please reapply.

All clerical casual staff will have an interview, and if necessary, skills testing.  If successful on those, reference checks are completed. Originals of credentials must be provided if hired.
