Duties: Manage the administration/coordination of the StudentAid BC program for all VIU campuses; interpret rules and regulations; compile government reports. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for administering institutional financial aid and awards programs; administer appropriate application forms; make discretionary decisions in grant approvals; maintain essential records and compile necessary reports. Liaise directly with Ministry personnel to maintain up to date information on government student loan programs and ensure that current policies and procedures are shared with staff and consulted with Financial Aid Coordinator. Initiate daily electronic confirmation of enrolment (ECE) file upload for StudentAid BC, National Student Loans and other provinces. Monthly monitoring of students' record to ensure course load requirements are being met, including ongoing entry of withdrawals and unsuccessful semesters within SFAS and other provincial student loan systems. Provide ongoing student support in relation to student loan and grant enquiries including appeals, withdrawals, overawards, deductions and fee deferrals. Monthly and year end reconciliation of the Adult Upgrading Grant (AUG) program including funding summaries, quarterly uploads, reports and forecasts for the ministry. Administer AUG student and staff enquiries including applications, approvals, data entry, coding, disbursements and ensure fund guidelines and processes are being followed. Ongoing monitoring of VIU AUG allocation to ensure student demand is being met and alerting Financial Aid Coordinator of potential fund surpluses and deficits. Meeting with, determining and monitoring access to additional emergency funding for students including emergency loans, food cards, transportation and emergency bursaries.

Oversee the VIU Institutional Appendix (IA) including uploads, reports, monthly monitoring and yearly updating of the IA between VIU and the Ministry of Advanced Education including ongoing updates to SFAS. Provide financial aid advice to students with financial concerns. Assist with Financial Aid and Awards liaison activities, professional meetings and provide appropriate representation to government bodies as required. Direct liaison with internal departments, external agencies through ongoing consultation with Financial Aid Coordinator.
Required Qualifications: Certificate in Applied Business Technology or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum three years recent relevant post-secondary experience, including accounting experience, working with students, government, and financial and student record systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

A strong commitment to excellent customer service that includes tact, diplomacy, good judgment, discretion, professionalism and initiative. Demonstrated ability to work both as a team player and independently. Demonstrated ability to be creative and problem solve in order to meet deadlines during peak times with frequent interruptions. Senior level computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications: Recognized Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution.
