Conducting a survey using

VIU has implemented LimeSurvey as a self-serve survey option. This tool will enable you to design and administer your survey yourself with support from the Office of University Planning and Analysis (OUPA).

 

How do I get started?

1) Please fill out our Survey Request Form (this does not apply to course or faculty evaluation surveys)

2) Send it to the Office of University Planning and Analysis (surveys@viu.ca), along with a draft of your survey questions. Provide as much detail as possible!

We will review your survey request form and follow up with you regarding the next steps. Please refer to our Student Survey Schedule for the current academic year to ensure your survey is not scheduled to be launched during another scheduled survey or during the survey blackout periods (exam time).

Under some circumstances (such as large sample size or sensitive topics), your survey request may need to be forwarded to the Student Survey Management Committee (SSMC) for approval and we may suggest a different software. This process could take up to 10 working days for review and approval.

Once approved, OUPA will create an account for you and guide you through the process of creating your own survey. You will be provided with a

  • username
  • password
  • rules and guidelines
  • a user guide to aid you with any questions you may have about the software
