Shelley LumsdenShelley is responsible for overseeing the post-award administration of all research grants and contracts administered by the Research Office. She can answer questions pertaining to grant finalization and release of funds, expense eligibility and reporting, and assist in problem-solving with outside agencies. Her position is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with all external research granting agencies. Shelley is also a resource for research employment matters and assists with research policy/procedure development and revision.

Roisin Mulligan Roisin facilitates all external (e.g. NSERC, CFI, CRC, etc.) research grants from initial idea stage to proposal submission and internal (e.g. VIURAC) research grant applications in the natural sciences. Roisin also organizes research-related faculty workshops.

Bettina RuhsteinBettina facilitates all research contracts, from the initial proposal stage to approval and signing of the final, written agreement on behalf of VIU. She also assists with external (e.g. SSHRC, Vancouver Foundation etc.) and internal (e.g. VIURAC) research grant applications related to the social sciences, education, management and humanities, and organizes research-related faculty workshops.

Chris Turner

 

Chris is responsible for managing the processes that ensure researcher and institutional compliance with national standards for ethical research involving humans and animals. Chris can provide general information and advice to researchers, faculty and students concerning applications to VIU’s Research Ethics Board (REB) and Animal Care Committee (ACC).

Lyn is responsible for coordination of meetings and preparation of minutes for Research Office committees, including Research Ethics Board, Animal Care Committee, VIU Research Awards Committee, VIUFA Leave Committee, Asper Media Studies Endowment Award, and Graduate Studies Advisory Committee. Lyn is the first level of reception for the Research & Scholarly Activity Office.
