First convocation 1971 - Native dancing
May 1971: The first Malaspina College convocation, held at Bowen Park, featured a performance by a Tillicum Haus intertribal dance group. This is believed to be the first intertribal dance group to perform at a BC college convocation. See article below.

Alan Martin Governor-General's Medal Award 1979
May 29, 1974: Alan Martin (left) receives congratulations from Don Hammond, chairman of Malaspina College Council after accepting the Governor-General's Medal Award for academic excellence. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a 4.0 GPA.
