Certificates of Insurance

Certificates of Insurance are issued to organizations requesting proof of VIU’s insurance before a contract or agreement is signed. Requests for certificates can be made by anyone in the University that is entering into the contract. Some contracts will also contain an indemnity that will need to be approved as well, please see the Indemnity Approval Process for more information.

To request a Certificate of Insurance please contact Kristine Chyplykin the Office of the Vice-President, Administration and Finance. In the request, please include the following information:

  • Full legal name of the entity requesting the certificate
  • The address of the entity requesting the certificate
  • The fax number of the entitity requesting hte certificate
  • The activity the contract is describing
  • A copy of the unsigned contract

The certificate will be returned to the Office of the Vice-President, Administration and Finance and then forwarded to the person who requested it for to be used as proof of insurance when submitting the signed contract to the other party.
