Welcome to the Office of the University Secretariat.

As the senior advisor on governance-related issues and associated legislative matters, the University Secretary reports directly to the President. The University Secretary provides leadership and expertise to ensure the effective operation and administration of the University's collegial, bicameral system of governance, headed by the Board of Governors and the Senate. The primary duties of the University Secretary include:

  • Ensuring effective communication between Board and Senate.
  • Promoting quality working relationships between Board and Senate and the University administration.
  • Interpretation of legislation, policies, procedures, bylaws and other Official records.
  • Management of institutional policies, procedures, and bylaws.
  • Repository of information and data on all matters relating to governance.
  • Interpretation and management of FIPPA legislation on behalf of the President.

These duties are carried out in conjunction with the supervision of staff who support Board and Senate, and other special projects as assigned by the President.
