Educational Advisor/Advising

Educational Advising is available to newly applied and current VIU students interested in upgrading, post-secondary, or training programs. We provide initial orientation and on-going support services to students.

Are You...

  • Newly applied or returning to school after a length of time away from a formal learning program?
  • Needing a prerequisite for a program?
  • Returning to school but unsure about a specific goal or program choice?
  • Preparing to write an assessment to complete your admission to a Vancouver Island University program?
  • Hesitant or facing barriers which could interfere with success?

We Will Help You...

  • Refine your educational and training goals
  • Establish a personal career and educational plan
  • Make your way through the University system
  • Overcome hurdles you may encounter while at Vancouver Island University; and
  • Reach your goals!

Need a Prerequisite or Upgrading?

Your first step is to attend an Academic Career Preparation (ACP) Information Session.

Information sessions are held weekly. Please email or call ACP, 250-740-6425, or the Student Affairs Advising Centre, 250-740-6410, to check on availability.

We provide support for the length of time that you are enrolled at Vancouver Island University. We may refer you to other services available at VIU, such as:
