About Success Coaching & the Success Coach

Success Coaching is offered to students complements of the Student Affairs department at Vancouver Island University. This program offers workshops aimed at exploring common issues and resources for forward action as well as one-to-one coaching for students.

Sharon Kelly Success Coach - Sharon Kelly

Sharon Kelly (BCC, CLC, WCS, MA) believes in the transformative power of education and the creativity and resourcefulness of individual human beings. Coaching is powerful because it relies on people tapping into their own unique talents and brilliance.

Sharon transitional into formal education to professional practice, with several distinct career and from single young professional, to married, working mother of three to being single and an "empty nester". She has managed significant health challenges personally and with loved ones. Life is full of change and challenge that can provide opportunities to transition and grow in one's strengths, skills and sense of purpose.

Sharon's people development career began over 30 years ago but her coaching skills were formalized with Coach training through the Institute for Life Coach Training (ILCT), and is a Certified Life Coach (CLC) and Wellness Coaching Specialist (WCS). The programs and courses offered through the ILCT are ICF (International Coach Federation) accredited. She is a member of the ICF and is a Board Certified Coach (BCC) with the Center for Credentials and Education. She is on a leave to complete her Professional Certified Coach training program from January - June 2017. She will again coach students upon her return to camps in August 2017

In the past she worked with adults and youth in transition in government as a Recreation Therapist, a contract Child Care Counsellor, as an instructor at Red Deer College and in the classroom and on on one in Student Services at Vancouver Island University. She works as a University Professor in the Faculty of Management and as the Success Coach within Student Affairs. She previously worked in the Advising Center as an educational counsellor to students and potential students from all walks of life and in varied ages and stages of their journey. She has learned, taught, education-counselled and coached at VIU for the past 26 years.
