Marine Biology Summer Camp

This is a fun summer camp filled with hands-on marine science activities. Offered at VIU’s Deep Bay Marine Field Station in Bowser, each camp will be packed with adventures, experiments, scavenger hunts, crafts, games, boat trips and more. The Fishy Fun Camp for ages six to eight years old runs July 6 to 10 and August 10 to 14. The Oceans Adventures Camp for ages nine to 12 runs July 21 to 31 and August 24 to 28. Shoots with Roots Camps – Milner Gardens & Woodland

These camps are for children who love gardening, nature and the outdoors. Each day includes structured learning activities intended to deepen your child’s understanding of gardening or our local ecosystem. Volunteer mentors including local biologists, artists and master gardeners will help spark your child’s imagination and learning. There is plenty of time in the Children’s Food Garden including planting, harvesting, watering and sampling vegetables. A good portion of the day is also spent playing outdoor games and in unstructured forest play activities such as fort building and exploring. All programs are led by a certified BC teacher.

The High School at VIU Summer Camp

The High School at VIU welcomes international students to summer camp. Our camp takes place at The High School at VIU, located on the beautiful Nanaimo,BC campus of Vancouver Island University on the east coast of Vancouver Island. The camp is offered to students between 14 and 18 years of age. Camp begins on July 16 and ends on August 28. Participants may choose the length of their stay, from one to eight weeks. Accommodation for our program is provided by the VIU Homestay Department. Participants can expect to improve your English skills, learn about Canadian culture, experience life in Canada, make new friends from around the world, participate in field trips and recreation activities, and explore Nanaimo and Vancouver Island.
